Why does Mr. Frank break down when he sees the glove?
When Mr. Frank sees the glove on the ground and breaks down in tears when he holds it, this shows that the glove brings sad memories. It shows that whoever owned the glove was someone whom he had loved greatly or that the glove symbolizes an event that was really heart breaking for him. Like maybe the glove belonged to Anne or Margot or Mrs. Frank, whom he loved dearly and that they also had died. The glove could also symbolize the Holocaust which was really hard for him and heart breaking. You can also foreshadow that if the glove was just lying on the ground and with only one of the gloves and not two, you can see that they were in a hurry to leave. They could have just stuffed it into their pocket really fast and it could have fallen out. This shows that they had to pack anything they could find and leave quickly.
