3rd Post: So Far From the Bamboo Grove

I think that this book is a very good book after reading it. It as kinda funny but also very serious at times. It is depressing and makes you want to cry too. It also is a true story and it gives you a perspective of how times were during the times of the WW2 and during the rule of the Japanese over Korea. Some feelings I had while reading this book was sorrow, but also kind of happiness. I recommend you read this book because it tells you the hardships of a girl’s life during the time of war and to feel the loss of a parent. How would you feel during those times? This book tells some impressive stuff and I think you would want to read it. Have a nice day. BYebye

2nd Post: So Far From the Bamboo Grove

The setting of changes during the book. The first setting was in a bamboo grove in Nanam, North Korea. That was the house where Yoko and her family lived. Then, the Russians came and so they had to go to Seoul on a train. The train was also a setting because they stayed on it quite a long time. The train was bombed and the engines blew up so Yoko and her sister and mother walked to Seoul. They walked near the train tracks and followed it and that was one setting also. They then went to the Seoul station and they spent a few days there and that was a setting also. Another setting is in Pusan station where they wait for Hideyo becasue he was left behind because he was working in the factory. As you can see, there are many settings in this book.

1st Post: So Far From the Bamboo Grove

uhhh.. i think this story is pretty fun and intresting. It is about a girl named Yoko who is Japanese and they live in North Korea. She has a sister, Ko, a mom (dont know the name) a dad (dont know the name) and a brother named Hideyo. Since they are Japanese, they have to hide from the Anti-Japanese Korean Communist Army. I think that Yoko whines a lot and i think she should be more like Ko, who thinks about others first and who understands the situation and adapts to it. Yoko is kind of the opposite of Ko. Hideyo is kind of brave for trying to fight for his country but he is also smart. Well, this book overall is getting intresting but i got to read because im 2 days behind.

Secret

A personal secret i had when i was a young boy, maybe around 6 or 7 years of age. I had barbie dolls. I know i am a boy but i took my sisters and played with them. They were very pretty and i liked to dress them. I kept it a secret by playing with them under the table when no one was looking. I think my sister found out or something or i stopped playing with them. I dont remember. This secret says a very specail thing about my personality/identity. I am very sneaky.

Courage

The most courageous thing in my life was when i was 2 years old. Me and my family went to the zoo and i got lost. I was very courageous and i hope i didnt cry. Some guy found me by myself and so he turned me in the office and the office people asked me some questions. I only knew one word and that was 2 because i was 2 years old. The guy asked me,"Are you lost?" I answered very courageously and held up two fingers. The guy asked me another question,"Where are your parents?" I answered very courageously again and held up two fingers. The guy asked me another question,"How old are you?" I held up two fingers again. My parents eventually found me when they heard a man saying in the speaker that a two year old asian baby was lost. I think I was very brave.
